Particularly simple with three buttons

Digital? Whatever! hörbert hides all complicated functions behind a rotary knob and three large colourful buttons. The three large wooden buttons have high-contrast colours, are positioned far apart, and can only be used for playback – accidental adjustment of hörbert is therefore ruled out, which allows for frustration-free use.

USB-C Power Supply

hörbert for seniors features a USB-C connection for power supply. For mobile operation, it is possible to optionally insert 4 NiMH rechargeable batteries into hörbert’s battery holder. These batteries are automatically charged while hörbert is connected to a power source. hörbert can be used normally during charging.

Intuitive operation

Press hörbert’s volume button, and it will start playing from the point where it was last turned off. Each of the three buttons is assigned to its own playlist. When you press one of the colorful buttons, hörbert plays the songs or audiobooks of the corresponding playlist in sequence. Simply press another button to play a different playlist. If you turn hörbert off again by pressing its volume button, it remembers the last playback position.

Full Control

Operating our products is intuitive and analog. There is no display – navigation through the content is done by pressing buttons. However, managing content and functions is done digitally via any Wi-Fi-enabled device (2.4GHz) using a web browser. We call this the Browser SET Mode:
This allows you to easily change hörbert’s settings or manage tracks and internet radio stations without any tools or special software. Starting with the “Butterfly” firmware version, the Browser SET Mode is available — you just need to connect to the device via Wi-Fi. hörbert opens its own Wi-Fi network when you press the SET button inside the device.

Unlimited Streaming

No follow-up costs! Unlimited content is available to you via Internet radio over Wi-Fi. The web radio stations can be added to playlists just like regular tracks. The browser set mode offers a search function by station name to help you find the radio stations.

Or maybe you want to stream music from your phone via Bluetooth, like with any regular Bluetooth speaker? All you need to do is press hörbert’s volume control twice in succession to turn it on, and connect your phone.

Listen to free content

hörbert’s included memory cards all contain at least 2 hours of pre-installed music and audiobooks. In total, the included card has space for over 50 hours of content (e.g., in MP3 format).

You can transfer your own music or audio plays to hörbert’s memory card. Either by uploading files from a mobile phone/tablet or PC in browser setup mode, or by simply copying files into the folders on hörbert’s memory card from a PC with a card reader.

And the best part? The content on your memory cards belongs to you! You don’t need an account or an internet connection to use it.

Bluetooth headphones

Not everyone wants or should listen in on their surroundings – for this case, Bluetooth headphones can be connected with hörbert.
Specifically for people with hearing impairments, there are extra loud headphones that can be connected to hörbert via Bluetooth.

Built-in microphone

To use hörbert as a communication aid, the built-in microphone is used. This makes it easy to record your own messages, which can be accessed later at the press of a button.

Tip: Personal voice recordings from family members add a nice personal touch for hörbert owners.

Each button plays your individual playlist, which you can record yourself.
Pressing the same button again takes you to the next song – so you can quickly click through the playlists.

3. Built-in microphone

With the microphone you can save voice recordings at the push of a button on the SD card.

A USB-C cable with power adapter can be plugged into this socket for operating hörbert from the mains.

5. SET Button

Inside you’ll find the SET button. With this button you start the Browser Set Mode, where you can adjust all hörbert settings via mobile phone, tablet or computer.

6. Memory Card Holder

We supply an SD card pre-loaded with lots of content. You can record it individually with new content.

7. Separate Battery Compartment

Only insert NiMH rechargeable batteries here! These batteries are charged in hörbert, so disposable batteries must never be inserted here. hörbert’s battery clips remain empty.

8. Power Connection Devices

Plug and circuit board for the power connection and charging function of the batteries.
When batteries are being charged in the device, a small LED on the power connection circuit board flashes. It stops flashing when the batteries are fully charged.

9. Battery Clips

These clips remain empty in a hörbert with USB connection. Only rechargeable batteries may be inserted in the separate battery compartment (7).

Playback

  • hörbert plays WAV, MP3 and M4A files from 3 individually customisable playlists directly from the SD card
  • You manage the playlists conveniently via web browser through hörbert’s own WLAN – without app, without internet connection, without registration.
  • You navigate through the playlists with a simple button press; hörbert remembers exactly the current position when switching off and continues playing seamlessly after switching on.
  • Audio output via the built-in speaker or with up to two Bluetooth headphones simultaneously. The speaker automatically switches off as soon as headphones are connected.

Streaming

  • After connecting to your WLAN (2.4 GHz), hörbert plays internet radio stations and podcasts – with a button press, just as easily as content from the SD card.
  • As a Bluetooth speaker, hörbert also streams content directly from smartphones, e.g. from Spotify or Audible.

Recording

  • With the integrated microphone, voices, stories or instruments can be recorded directly
  • hörbert can also record what is received via internet radio or streamed via Bluetooth. All data remains on the SD card and is never transmitted to the internet.

No Follow-up Costs

  • hörbert belongs to you – without subscription, without licence costs, without restrictions. The SD card can be loaded with new content as many times as you like.

Peace & Control

  • The sleep timer switches hörbert off automatically at a configurable time – practical for energy saving.
  • WLAN and Bluetooth can be switched off individually when no wireless connection is desired.
