Internet-Radio hörbert
Content without end – and all for free? That’s what your hörbert can do! Via internet radio, hörbert streams radio stations from all over the world in good sound quality. Internet radio is particularly exciting due to its wide variety of stations. With the option to listen to radio online, you have access to your favorite music at any time. There are no limits to the genres. Internet radio can refer to both a device and the streaming of radio stations. An internet connection or home Wi-Fi is essential for receiving web radio, but with hörbert’s recording function, you can record the content on the memory card and listen to it as often as you like even without internet access.
We have already begun to collect some ad-free good stations and playlists for hörbert. The links listed below are great for nice children’s songs. If you have more tips, feel free to write to us!
How does it work exactly?
Internet radio stations have a so-called stream address, which looks quite similar to website addresses. You can easily insert these stream addresses into playlists as a text line using the hörbert software. They then behave almost like a regular song in the playlist, only the internet radio naturally continues to play if you don’t skip forward in the playlist, and not just for one track. You can zap through files and internet radio stations as usual with the playlist buttons. It is also possible to store multiple internet radio stations per playlist.
Recording the radio broadcasts is quite simple:
Hold the black button and then briefly press the gray button, and release both—this starts the recording. You end and save the recording again with the black button, but the internet radio simply continues to play. The recordings end up at the end of the playlist, one after the other.
What if no Wi-Fi is available? As you browse through the playlist, you will recognize several repeated beeps indicating that hörbert is searching for an internet radio station but is unable to find one. You can then simply continue zapping or wait until hörbert realizes there is no Wi-Fi or something is wrong with the radio stream. You can program up to 5 Wi-Fi networks, which it will try one by one.
If there are still uncertainties or questions about the topic of internet radio with hörbert, we have a separate FAQ page where all important questions are answered. You can find the FAQ here.

A bit of preparation is necessary for hörbert to access the internet via your Wi-Fi:
For hörbert to function as an internet radio, three steps must be completed:
Step 1:
Activate Wi-Fi via SET mode:
– Turn on hörbert.
– Press the SET mode button inside.
– Now check if Wi-Fi is already activated on your hörbert by briefly pressing the orange button on the front. If hörbert gives one high-pitched tone, Wi-Fi is active. If it gives two lower tones, Wi-Fi is turned off, then press again so that a single, high-pitched tone sounds.
Then press the SET mode button inside again to save.
Step 2:
Edit the memory card with the hörbert software:
– Save Wi-Fi login data on the memory card. For this, you need the new hörbert software from version 3.x.x.
You can find the latest hörbert software HERE for download.
Start the hörbert software, select your new hörbert model, and read the memory card.
Now in the software menu under Extras you can configure the name and password of your home Wi-Fi under “Configure Wi-Fi connections“. Note: It must be a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
The SSID – which is the Wi-Fi name – must not contain spaces.
The password can include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and the following special characters: “.” / “-” / “_”
– Save Internet radio URL(s)
Now click on one of the colored buttons for which you want to save one or more internet radio streams. By clicking the plus sign next to the word “URL,” you can now save a streaming URL. Simply copy the streaming address and paste it here. Examples of URLs can be found below in this blog post.
If you also want to record internet radio:
You can specify at the bottom edge of the window whether you want to allow recordings with this button in the playlist content window. Click on the box “Allow internet radio recordings here”.
Eject the memory card and insert it into hörbert.
Step 3:
Read Wi-Fi data.
Turn on hörbert.
Press the SET mode button inside again.
Now press the orange button for a long time. Keep pressing until after about 10 seconds, you hear a signal tone confirming that the Wi-Fi data has been read into hörbert.
Now press the SET mode button inside again to save.
Now hörbert is ready to play internet radio stations at the press of a button.
Sender & Playlists for children - our selection for internet radio
The amount of radio stations on the internet is almost unlimited. It’s not always easy to find stations with content for children. Here we help you with a few tips that can be easily integrated into the embedded web radio.
Here are examples of working URLs:
Mausradio:
https://wdr-diemaus-live.icecastssl.wdr.de/wdr/diemaus/live/mp3/128/stream.mp3
http://stream.laut.fm/kinderlieder-123
http://stream.laut.fm/1000christmashits
ad-free: http://stream.laut.fm/kinderland
Here’s another podcast episode of the Maus:
Please copy this URL without the quotation marks: “https://wdrmedien-a.akamaihd.net/medp/podcast/weltweit/fsk0/303/3033150/diemauszumhoeren_2023-12-06_magisch_diemaus.mp3″
Live podcasts can’t yet be fetched by hörbert. But you can store individual podcast episodes as a URL.
By the way: You can also enter the stream URLs in the browser. If you’ve got the right stream address, you will see an almost empty page with a play button, and the radio starts playing right away. You simply use the same URL (stream address) as an internet radio URL when storing the URL on a hörbert playlist using the hörbert software.

Have fun trying out the different stations.
