Internet-Radio hörbert
Endless content – and completely free? Your hörbert can do that! hörbert streams radio stations from all over the world in good sound quality via Internet radio. Above all, web radio impresses with its wide variety of stations. The ability to listen to radio online gives you access to your favourite music at any time. There are no limits to the genres. An internet radio can be the name for a device as well as the name for streaming radio stations. A home WIFI (2,4 GHz) is essential for receiving web radio, but with hörbert’s recording function you can record the content on the memory card and listen to it later as often as you like, even without Internet access.
We have already started to collect some good ad-free stations and playlists for hörbert. The links listed below are great for beautiful children’s songs. If you have any more tips, please let us know!
How does it work exactly?
Internet radio stations use what’s known as a stream URL, which looks quite similar to a typical website address.
Update your hörbert now to the latest “Butterfly” firmware to take full advantage of new features. With the so-called Browser Set Mode, a simple web-based interface for hörbert, you can configure your playlists for recordings directly on the memory card without needing a computer or the hörbert software. You can also store your home Wi-Fi data (Wi-Fi name and password) and activate special functions such as Bluetooth/pairing, Wi-Fi for web radio, or the microphone for voice recordings.
By the way: In Browser Set Mode, you’ll find a simple keyword search for suitable web radio stations for hörbert. This makes it easy to assign one or more streaming URLs to a hörbert playlist. Check out our video introducing Browser Set Mode – you’ll find it here:

If your hörbert hasn’t been updated to the Butterfly firmware yet,
you can still configure it to enable Bluetooth, internet access, and voice recording. You’ll need a computer with an SD card reader and the free hörbert software. The SET template below shows you which buttons to press in SET Mode to enable special functions like Bluetooth/pairing and Wi-Fi.
You can insert stream URLs from web radio stations into playlists as text entries using the hörbert software. These behave almost like regular songs in the playlist – except the internet radio keeps playing if you don’t skip ahead. You can skip through files and web radio stations using the playlist buttons as usual. Assigning multiple internet radio stations to one playlist is also possible.
Recording radio shows is simple:
Hold the black button and briefly press the gray button, then release both – recording starts immediately. Pressing the black button again ends and saves the recording. Meanwhile, the internet radio continues playing. Recordings are stored at the end of the playlist, one after another.
No Wi-Fi available?
When scrolling through the playlist, hörbert will indicate that it’s trying to connect to an internet radio station by playing repeated beeps. If it can’t connect, you can skip to the next track or wait. hörbert will cycle through up to 5 saved Wi-Fi networks before giving up.

Sender & Playlists for children - our selection for internet radio
The amount of radio stations on the internet is almost unlimited. It’s not always easy to find stations with content for children. Here we help you with a few tips that can be easily integrated into the embedded web radio.
Here are examples of working URLs:
Mausradio:

http://stream.laut.fm/kinderlieder-123

ad-free: http://stream.laut.fm/kinderland
Here’s another podcast episode of the Maus:
Please copy this URL without the quotation marks: “https://wdrmedien-a.akamaihd.net/medp/podcast/weltweit/fsk0/303/3033150/diemauszumhoeren_2023-12-06_magisch_diemaus.mp3″
Live podcasts can’t yet be fetched by hörbert. But you can store individual podcast episodes as a URL.
By the way: You can also enter the stream URLs in the browser. If you’ve got the right stream address, you will see an almost empty page with a play button, and the radio starts playing right away. You simply use the same URL (stream address) as an internet radio URL when storing the URL on a hörbert playlist using the hörbert software.

Have fun trying out the different stations.
