Topic: Making voice recordings using the voice microphone with hörbert (2021 model)

Dear hörbert fans,
the voice recording function on hörbert is designed as a fun feature for young and old, to record and listen to your own voice with the small built-in voice microphone. This is usually very amusing and brings lots of fun, as you hear yourself “live” quite differently than others do and perceive your own voice through the speaker in a completely new way. Voice recordings are played back immediately after recording after a few seconds.

This brilliant function of hörbert naturally also offers the opportunity to record voice messages, bedtime stories or whatever you like for your kids, so that they’re always available for the little ones anytime and anywhere.

Setup via Browser Set Mode

Make sure that your hörbert is running firmware Butterfly or newer.

FIRMWARE UPDATE

Start the Browser Set Mode. The Browser Set Mode is a convenient web interface where you can make all settings for hörbert and define the playlists on which recordings should be allowed.

The Browser Set Mode is self-explanatory:

• You’ll find the “MICROPHONE” menu there. Here you can enable the recording function via the built-in microphone.
• Then you go to the “PLAYLISTS” menu item. There you can specify in each playlist’s settings whether voice recordings or other types of recordings are allowed there.

Change recording mode for a barrier-free hörbert with only 3 large playlist buttons:

• In Browser Set Mode you can activate the expert menu.
• To do this, you call up the GENERAL menu item. There you click on the advanced settings and activate the expert menu.
• Now you have a new item in the main menu called “EXPERT“.
• There you go to the settings for recording mode and can set that a recording should start when you press a playlist button longer or when you hold down a playlist button. To end and save the recording, you then simply press a playlist button again.

When you’ve set everything up, you can start a recording as follows:

Starting and stopping a voice recording:

• Switch hörbert on
• Press the coloured playlist button at the front that you’ve designated for voice recordings and previously enabled for this in Browser Set Mode. Attention: There must already be at least one audio file on the playlist so that it can be accessed.
• Navigate through the playlist to the track after which the new voice recording should be placed.
• Now press the black button and the grey button in combination. The red light behind the microphone opening lights up, you can release the buttons again, the recording has started. Now speak into the microphone opening at the front from a distance of about 5 centimetres. If the recording is too quiet, you can increase the sensitivity for the microphone in the expert menu in Browser Set Mode.
