Search for investors for hörbert manufacturer Winzki continues unchanged in preliminary insolvency proceedings
▪ Good and constructive discussions with several interested parties – the investor process is expected to be completed over the summer
▪ Children’s MP3 player hörbert is particularly sustainable and durable – expansion of sales and a senior-friendly product version planned for further growth potential
▪ Entry of an investor necessary to take the company to the next level – diverse application possibilities of the product
Frickenhausen/Esslingen am Neckar. The search for investors for Winzki GmbH & Co. KG continues unchanged in the recently initiated preliminary insolvency proceedings. The goal is to elevate the manufacturer of the particularly sustainable and durable children’s MP3 player “hörbert” (www.hoerbert.com) to the next level. For further growth potential, an expansion of sales and a senior-friendly product version are planned. “For this, the company needs fresh capital and ideally also an investor with suitable sales channels. With the right partner, I see good chances that the company can actively exploit its growth potential – especially in tapping into international markets and new customer groups,” says the preliminary insolvency administrator, Dr. Dietmar Haffa from Schultze & Braun.
Test winner for children's MP3 players
Winzki GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2011. It produces the children’s MP3 player, hörbert, which is entirely made in Germany and almost exclusively using ecological materials – mainly wood – and features electronics developed in-house. The operation of hörbert is reduced to a minimum and is therefore very easy for children to use. “hörbert can be used as an MP3 player, web radio, Bluetooth streaming box, or recording device – and not just by children, but by the whole family. It is also used in professional childcare and language education establishments,” says Rainer Brang, the founder and managing director of Winzki. “For people with disabilities, there are accessible models for external operating aids. Additionally: The product is sustainably produced, durable, and can be easily repaired if needed.” In 2019, the Stiftung Warentest named the predecessor of today’s even more advanced hörbert as the test winner in comparison with twelve other MP3 players for children. hörbert is currently distributed through the in-house webshop (www.hoerbert.com), online marketplaces, and selected specialist retailers.
With models specifically developed for seniors and a broader international distribution setup, the company now aims to tap into further growth markets.
Good and constructive conversations with interested parties
Dr. Haffa is currently gaining an overview of the economic situation at the company headquarters in Frickenhausen near Nürtingen and is reviewing the restructuring options. He continues the search for investors. “We have already had inquiries from interested parties with whom we are having good and constructive discussions,” says Dr. Haffa. The goal of the sales process, which remains open to all interested parties, is to find an investor for Winzki.
Production and sales continue without any restrictions. The 19 employees have already been informed about the process. Their wages and salaries are secured up to and including September. “The goal is to hand over the company to an investor during the summer who fits Winzki, believes in the potential of hörbert, and can thus enable it to have a sustainably good future,” says Dr. Haffa.
