Hörbert flies with Butterfly: Major firmware update, new website and new products for seniors and care!

hörbert with 3 playlists for care

Bremen, November 25, 2021

Triple Relaunch at Hörbert: With the major firmware update “Butterfly”, hörbert introduces new features and improved user comfort. At the same time, the popular music and audio player surprises with a fresh new website that simplifies navigation and directly addresses its target audiences. As a special highlight, hörbert is expanding its offering with tailored products for seniors, caregivers, and people with disabilities.

The New Firmware “Butterfly”
Settings via Web Browser Interface

The most important innovation in the “Butterfly” update is the introduction of the so-called “Browser Set Mode.” This allows users to configure all settings for their hörbert via an intuitive web interface. Internet radio stations can now be added using a keyword search. In addition, new audio content can be transferred via Wi-Fi or removed using the Browser Set Mode. There is no longer any need for special software or an SD card reader – a huge advantage, as many modern laptops and computers no longer come with built-in SD card readers.

However, even for those using a card reader, things have become more convenient: With a hörbert running the Butterfly firmware, new MP3 files can also be transferred using a file manager on the computer, without the need for the Browser Set Mode.

Customised configurations in the expert menu

Browser Set Mode offers an expert menu for more demanding users.
Users can choose from numerous new functions here. Frequently mentioned customer requests from recent years have been implemented here. For example, switching off at the end of a playlist, random playback or remembering the last playback position when switching between playlists.

Availability and update for older devices

From November 2024, every Hörbert sold in the Hörbert Shop at [www.hoerbert.com] will be equipped with this new firmware ex works. Owners of an older Hörbert model from October 2021 onwards can also look forward to this: the new firmware can be easily installed on their devices by the users themselves via an update. This means that older Hörberts will also benefit from the advantages and functions of the ‘Butterfly’ version. Future firmware updates can then be carried out automatically at the touch of a button.

New products for senior citizens, care and people with disabilities

With its new website and specially developed solutions for senior citizens and people with disabilities, hörbert is focussing on a simple and inclusive music experience. The version of hörbert optimised for the new target group is particularly intuitive to use: three large, high-contrast buttons make control child’s play – ideal for people with impaired vision and fine motor skills. An integrated USB-C power connection with battery charging function also simplifies use in everyday care: Hörbert can be used on the move and can be charged and used via mains power at the same time, saving time.

Especially for people with disabilities, hörbert offers special barrier-free solutions, such as the connection for large, external control buttons that make the hearing experience accessible to everyone. In addition, the manufacturer is working on special listening content tailored to the needs of people with dementia and to address and activate them.
