we have stumbled upon something fascinating in the world of music that we of course don’t want to keep from you – and that is art whistling!
Art whistling involves using one’s lips and/or tongue to whistle complex melodies in various pitches without technical aids. It is an art form with tradition, which was already popular in Austria in the 1880s. Nowadays, in the entire German-speaking region, there are only a handful of art whistlers who practice this art form.
For example, Sirus Madjderey (unpaid advertisement)
Sirus is an Austrian art whistler who, after 10 years of playing the violin, uses only his lips as an instrument. From classical to pop to crossover, Sirus interprets his songs whistling. A mix of birdsong and violin – that’s how you could describe it. Known from ORF 2, Puls 4, Radio Arabella, Schau TV, with advertising jingles for film and television, Sirus Madjderey presents an extensive and varied repertoire in a unique way.

As an independent art whistler, there are many different ways to offer this art. One example is live performances at events such as weddings, birthdays, company celebrations, and more.

Interested in learning to whistle with Sirus? With simple tips and tricks, whistling can be learned. Everyone has the potential for it, as whistling requires no external aids, but everything is already there: lips, tongue, and air from the lungs!
Another example is a city tour through Vienna about Vienna’s most famous musicians. A collaboration between a Vienna tour guide and art whistler Sirus turns an ordinary tour into a live experience music city tour, with live whistling.
Art whistling is also excellently combinable with other instruments such as the harp. In the duo Harfe & Kunstpfeifen, Sirus performs with a harpist at weddings.

LULLABIES FOR CHICKS
This CD includes 7 well-known lullabies within the story of little Lip and a booklet with lyrics to sing along. The whistled melodies are combined with gentle instrumentation and natural sounds. The tempo (60 bpm – resting pulse, alpha state of the brain) and the volume gradually decrease as the CD fades out to promote deeper relaxation or falling asleep.
