What is the hörbert browser set mode?

With hörbert's Browser Set Mode, you can conveniently manage content and settings without software or a card reader. Simply use a self-explanatory web interface with a WLAN-enabled device with an internet browser such as a smartphone, tablet or PC

With the Browser Set Mode, hörbert brings more convenience and flexibility to your everyday life – without needing a computer, SD card reader, or additional software. Using this practical web interface, you can adjust all settings and transfer audio content directly to the memory card.

All you need is a Wi-Fi-enabled device with an internet browser – such as your phone or tablet – and a hörbert running the latest firmware version “Butterfly”.

How to start the browser set mode – step by step

  1. Turn on hörbert and press the Set button inside the device
    hörbert’s Wi-Fi network will now appear in the Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  2. Connect to this network (Wi-Fi password: hoerbert)
  3. Open an internet browser, such as Chrome or Firefox
  4. Enter the following address into the address bar: http://hoerbert.local
  5. Voilà – the Browser Set Mode will open!

What can be set in Browser Set Mode?

Configuring basic functions

  • Manage PLAYLISTS: Add, delete, move or rename tracks. Select Internet radio URLs via a keyword search and add them to the playlist

  • Control functions per playlist: Specify whether Bluetooth, Internet radio or recordings are allowed in individual playlists

  • GENERAL: Set sleep timer, limit volume, reset to factory settings, check for firmware updates, display the expert menu.

  • Activate MICROPHONE: For creative voice or music recordings

  • Activate Bluetooth and pairing: Use hörbert as a speaker for your mobile phone/tablet or pair up to two Bluetooth headphones

  • Activate WLAN: Enter your WLAN access data to listen to Internet radio

Advanced settings in the expert menu for individual requirements

  • Adjust volume range:
    Make hörbert even quieter or louder.

  • Fine-tune microphone sensitivity:
    For clearer voice recordings.

    • Stop or repeat playback at the end

    • Play tracks in random order

    • Remember the last playback position and resume from there

  • Define playlist behavior:
    – Stop or repeat playback at the end
    – Play tracks in random order
    – Remember last playback position and continue from there

  • Activate Parrot Mode:
    If you select this setting in the recording settings, you can make voice recordings on any playlist. The recording is played immediately but not saved. Recordings are only saved on playlists that have been explicitly authorised for voice recordings.

 

  • For tech-savvy programmers:

PlaLa is hörbert’s Playlist Language, consisting of commands that can control hörbert using advanced functions.

  • Device name and password:
    Give your hörbert a unique name (e.g., Lillys_hoerbert) and/or change its Wi-Fi password (default password: hoerbert)

Choose recording mode:

  • Start recording by pressing the black and grey buttons (default for hörbert with 11 buttons)

  • Start recording by long-pressing a playlist button (ideal for accessible devices)

  • Start and record only while the button is held down

Define power-on behavior:

  • Turn on by pressing the rotary knob

  • Turn on by turning the rotary knob

  • Turn on by pressing a playlist button

Configure external control buttons:
Perfect for accessible hörbert models with connections for large external switches, such as Jelly Buttons

Choose playback behavior when turning on:

  • Continue playback from where it left off

  • Start with the next track

  • Start with the next playlist
