What is the hörbert browser set mode?

With hörbert's Browser Set Mode, you can conveniently manage content and settings without software or a card reader. Simply use a self-explanatory web interface with a WLAN-enabled device with an internet browser such as a smartphone, tablet or PC

All you need to start the Browser Set Mode is a WIFI-enabled device with an internet browser and a hörbert with the current firmware version “Butterfly” or the BETA version of Butterfly2.

How to start the Browser Set Mode – step by step

  1. Switch on hörbert and press the Set button inside (Info about the alternative without opening the case)
  2. On your phone, tablet or computer, hörbert’s WiFi network now appears in the WiFi settings
  3. Connect to this network (WiFi password: hoerbert)
  4. Open an internet browser, e.g. Chrome or Firefox
  5. Enter the following address in the address bar: http://hoerbert.local
  6. Voilà – the Browser Set Mode opens!

What can be configured in the browser Set Mode?

Configure basic functions

  • Manage PLAYLISTS: Add, delete, move or rename titles. Select internet radio URLs via keyword search and add them to the playlist
  • Control functions per playlist: Determine whether Bluetooth, internet radio or voice recordings are allowed in individual playlists
  • GENERAL: Set sleep timer, limit volume, reset to factory settings, search for firmware updates, display the expert menu.
  • Activate MICROPHONE: For creative voice or music recordings
  • Activate Bluetooth and pairing: Use hörbert as a speaker for your mobile/tablet or pair up to two Bluetooth headphones
  • Activate WIFI: Store your WIFI access details to listen to internet radio

Advanced settings in the expert menu for individual requirements

  • Adjust volume range: make hörbert even quieter or even louder.
  • Adjust microphone sensitivity: For clearer recordings
  • Determine playlist behaviour:
    • Stop playback at the end or repeat
    • Play tracks in random order
    • Remember last playback position and continue from there
  • Activate parrot mode: if you choose this setting in the recording settings, you can make voice recordings on any playlist. The recording is played back immediately, but not saved. Recordings are only saved on playlists that have been explicitly enabled for voice recordings.
  • For IT-savvy programmers: PlaLa is hörbert’s Playlist Language and consists of commands that can influence hörbert’s control with advanced commands. You can find an overview of the PlaLa commands and PlaLa Address Modifier on this page: https://www.hoerbert.com/technik/
  • Device name and password: give your hörbert a unique name here (Lilly’s_hörbert) and/or change its own WiFi password (standard password: hoerbert)
Configuration notes for the accessible hörbert with three large buttons or with socket connection for external control buttons
  • Select recording mode:
    • Start recording by pressing black and grey button (standard for hörbert with 11 buttons)
    • Start recording by pressing and holding a playlist button (ideal for accessible devices)
    • Start and record only whilst button is held down
  • Set power-on behaviour:
    • Switch on by pressing the rotary control
    • Switch on by turning the control (hörbert can then no longer be put into Bluetooth speaker mode)
    • Switch on by pressing a playlist button (hörbert can then no longer be put into Bluetooth speaker mode)
  • Configure external control buttons: Perfect for accessible hörberts with connection for external large buttons, e.g. Jelly Buttons
    • When switching on, simply continue playing
    • When switching on, play next track
    • When switching on, play next playlist
