Listening as a Key Skill
Listening is a key skill that children need not only for their daily lives, but also for their entire lives. In early childhood education, listening lays the foundation for language development, imagination and social skills. Stories, songs and sounds stimulate the imagination, promote language awareness and convey values in a playful way.
The analogue and robust wooden MP3 player hörbert from HMC has established itself as a faithful companion for children – both in families and in nurseries. Now hörbert is expanding its range with new audio content that has been specially developed for the needs of children and for work in nurseries. With the new memory card editions “Kita & Co” and “Ohrenflausen”, hörbert aims not only to promote the joy of listening, but also to support educational work.
Music and Stories: Companions in Nursery Life and at Home
In nurseries, stories and songs are an integral part of the daily routine. Whether in the morning circle, whilst playing, creating, doing gymnastics, dancing or at traditional celebrations – they provide structure for the children and support the staff in their work:
Audio plays stimulate the imagination and open up new play ideas whilst children let their creativity run free.
Podcasts, for example from the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology (STEM), which are becoming increasingly important even in nurseries, make it easier for educators to impart knowledge. But not only in the nursery, but also in the family, favourite songs and stories enrich children’s everyday lives. Sound worlds can help to relax or concentrate on a (home)work task.
Audio Content for Every Situation
hörbert manufacturer HMC focuses on high quality with its product hörbert. And not just with the playback device. The new audio content from hörbert offers a mixture of music, stories, audio plays and sound worlds that have been carefully selected to support children in an age-appropriate way. In addition to joy and entertainment, they focus on language development, knowledge transfer and cultural diversity.
“Our mission is to offer children high-quality listening experiences that not only entertain them, but also support their development,” says Peter Hirschfeld, Managing Director of HMC. “With our new content, we want to inspire families and nurseries to put listening at the centre of shared experiences.”
With the memory card edition “KITA & CO“, the manufacturer offers a 4-hour repertoire specially tailored for use in nurseries. Ready-to-play content has been compiled from 11 albums from the well-known series “Die 30 besten…”. Important knowledge is conveyed in a playful way, such as the question of the right choice of morning clothing so that you can be seen well in traffic. Or that it’s lovely that every child is different and diversity is valued. In addition to play and movement songs, seasonal songs, the most popular nursery classics and new nursery hits, birthday songs, children’s disco songs and well-known songs in English, there are also adventure stories and four dream journeys for relaxation: meditative stories with which the children can come to rest.
The memory card edition “Ohrenflausen” was created in collaboration with the Pforzheim-based Verlag für Eingemachtes. According to owner Tanja Deutsch, the publisher places great value on mindfully produced, good music and audiobooks. The edition features ten of the publisher’s own productions for children between 3 and 12 years old. The audiobooks and audio plays work through topics such as environmental responsibility, learning to read the clock, friendship and tolerance, language skills and also complex experiences such as parental separation and life in a blended family in a child-friendly way. Where do dreams come from? The Duwaddiwaddi stories from the Sandman School answer this question within the framework of a funny reinterpretation of the classic Sandman legend. The Sound Detectives investigate the mysteries of forest sounds and the happenings on a construction site, thus supporting hearing development. The repertoire is rounded off with well-known English favourite songs and three sound tents, original compositions made from natural and electronic sounds that act like a protective tent against irregular noise, so that children can concentrate completely on a (home)work task to be mastered or simply relax in free play.
