Children’s MP3 Player hörbert Goes International
- Successful search for investors – Insolvency administrator Dr. Dietmar Haffa sells to Hightech Media Components
- Takeover on January 1, 2023 – Development and service remain in the Esslingen area
- Production will be relocated, but remains “Made in Germany” – Unique features of the children’s MP3 player hörbert remain unchanged
Frickenhausen/Esslingen am Neckar/Bremen. The key in the Bremen city coat of arms traditionally symbolizes the key to the world. Symbolically, this now stands for the future of the children’s MP3 player hörbert. This is because the Hightech Media Components GmbH & Co. KG (HMC), based in the Hanseatic city, will take over the production and distribution of hörbert with effect from January 1, 2023. The player is entirely manufactured in Germany, almost exclusively using ecological materials—mainly wood—and features a specially developed electronic system.
“The goal of the investor search was to find a partner who can elevate the production and distribution of the MP3 player hörbert to a new level and with whom the internationally oriented future plans for this excellent product can be realized,” says insolvency administrator Dr. Dietmar Haffa of Schultze & Braun. “With the takeover by HMC, these goals have become realistic and achievable. I am all the more pleased that we have achieved this takeover solution,” says Dr. Haffa.
Specialist for International Distribution and Service
Hightech Media Components is a specialist in international sales and marketing strategies, as well as cross-border logistics and service. HMC is represented in numerous European countries with its own offices and partners. The company already manages and distributes several audio brands, so hörbert is a great addition to the existing portfolio.
hörbert Inventor and Service Remain on Board
The development and service for hörbert will continue to be based in the Esslingen area after the takeover. hörbert inventor Rainer Brang will shape the future of the MP3 player from there with a team of initially four employees.
The production of the device will be taken over by a long-standing main supplier and relocated to the Eppendorf site. This way, production will be qualitatively and quantitatively further developed, without abandoning “Made in Germany” and unique features such as the sustainability of the materials used and the repairability of the device. However, this move also means that production at the Frickenhausen site cannot be continued. “This step, which is inevitable to remain competitive, hurts us a lot, especially because all employees have worked excellently and committedly,” says Brang. He is confident, however, that the 14 employees who can no longer be employed will quickly find new employment in the economically strong region around Esslingen. “We will do our utmost to support them in transitioning to other employment.”
About the MP3 Player hörbert
The children’s MP3 player hörbert is entirely produced in Germany. hörbert is made almost exclusively from ecological materials—primarily wood—and features a specially developed electronic system. The operation of hörbert is reduced to a minimum, making it child-friendly. It can be used as an MP3 player, web radio, Bluetooth streaming box, or recording device. The product is sustainably produced, durable, and, if necessary, easy to repair. In 2019, the Stiftung Warentest named the predecessor model of the currently further developed hörbert as the test winner, compared with twelve other MP3 players for children. hörbert is currently sold through its own webshop (www.hoerbert.com), online marketplaces, and selected specialist retailers.
