The Magic Tree House – Flood Tide in Venice

Magic, excitement, history – all of this is experienced by children with the audio book series The Magic Tree House. The books of the same series, written by Mary Pope Osborne, are extremely successful and are enjoyed by both boys and girls from 8 years old. The Jumbo Verlag has released the series as exciting audiobooks.

What is it about? Siblings Anne and Philipp from Pennsylvania discover a tree house full of books in the woods. Each book is like a gateway to a foreign land, to a past time, or to a fantasy world. Anne and Philipp can simply wish to go there, and – poof – the magic tree house transports them there. Upon arrival at their destination, numerous puzzles and adventures await the siblings and of course, the listener. The suspense literally captivates you, the musical accompaniment is perfectly coordinated, and you listen almost hypnotized. My son was captivated by the story, even though he is only 6 years old (but of course, experienced in listening to audio plays/stories)! Each episode also contains a lot of historical information. Therefore, the series is recommended for 8 years and older. However, the factual knowledge is not the focus, but is simply integrated on the side, which makes it so authentic and interesting for children. The two main characters also have strengths and weaknesses, which makes them so likable for children.

In the episode “Storm Flood in Venice”, Anne and Philipp travel to Venice 260 years ago to save the sublime lady of the lagoon on behalf of Merlin. But who and where is the lady? And what is the threat to the city all about? Many puzzles and magical impressions of Venice await the two siblings.

Conclusion: A successful and exciting audiobook for school children who enjoy following a captivating story and can really immerse themselves in it! But beware: addictive! Then usually other episodes from the series “The Magic Tree House” have to follow. For those reluctant to read, this can actually be a great motivation, as besides the audiobooks, the books in the series are absolutely worth reading and are well-received by school children.
