Handmade wooden music box with elegant front

This wonderful MP3 player was built by our hörbert customer Richard S. Learn more here about how it came about and the materials he used.

The hörbert team would like to thank their loyal hörbert customer Richard S. wholeheartedly for providing the photo and accompanying story.

We’re happy to share with you what Richard told us:

For our daughter’s third birthday, we gave her a hörbert because this fantastic MP3 player has already proved its worth with our son.
This time, however, I fancied having a go at some tinkering myself and built the housing myself. This was entirely possible thanks to the option of purchasing an electronics kit (and I’m certainly not the first with a
DIY project, as you can impressively see on your website).

The housing was made from ash wood and glued together with hand-sawn dovetail joints.

The front consists of thin plywood which I covered with linoleum. I used a cotton webbing strap for the carrying handle.

On the whole, though, I kept to the visual appearance and basic dimensions of the original hörbert.
